This Marine National Park Gujarat is located offshore from the southern coast of the Gulf of Kutch in the Jamnagar, Gujarat. It is about 58 km broad to the seaward (western) side, and 170 km broad to the eastern side. The Marine National Park Gujarat was recognized in 1982 under the provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 for the defense of unprotected marine flora and fauna in the area. This park was confirmed as the first marine national park in India in 1982. Marine National Park and Sanctuary comes under the inter-tidal zone along the Jamnagar coasts and islands in the Gulf of Kachchh.  Set apart with a huge diversity of habitats, its coral reefs and mangroves and the sequence of 42 islands form a unique, though delicate, eco-system, which supports an remarkable marine life and biodiversity. Most of the park is made up of the colonies created by these coral reefs. Their limestone formation ability led to the design of several structures that are not only unique but also come in diverse sizes and shapes.
